Seven Questions with a Servant: Rick Shaver
1. What's your name?
Rick Shaver
2. Will you please share a little about yourself?
I'm from all over the country, have lived most of my life in West Virginia but Florida is my favorite. My wife Sarah is my companion and we've been married 34 years! Our son Karl and daughter Katie are both amazing individuals who are involved in the arts.
3. How long have you been attending/serving at Redeemer?
Since 1997 when Pastor Dueker recruited us.
4. In what ways do you or have you serve(d) at Redeemer and which is/was your favorite way?
Pasta Playhouse, choir, youth activities, small groups. I think Pasta Playhouse has been my favorite because of the great fellowship and it's so much fun!
5. How has serving at Redeemer impacted you?
It has given me an anchor during turbulent times and helped me through despair. Also met a good friend Jay through choir.
6. What’s something about you not many folks know?
I'm the only certified chess coach in West Virginia, was once a certified professional geologist, and have lived over 2 months of my life on bicycle tours.
7. What do you like most about Redeemer?
The way we have been a family. I'll never forget how many of us actually lived in our new church after many suffered damaged homes and loss of power after the derecho. Our church was literally an oasis. On Christ the solid rock I stand.
