Luke 20:27-40
In this episode of Redeemer’s Refuge, from the Old Testament reading from Exodus, we hear God call Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. “Who Am I?” is the key question and leads to some of the most profound discoveries in the Old Testament — also, some of the most profound realizations about ourselves.
How much like Moses are we? We are excited to see God – burning bush, worship, Word and Sacrament. We are excited to be His people.
But what we are not, is excited to do His work. We protest, “Who am I? I couldn’t possibly do what is being asked. I am afraid, I’m too busy, I’m not qualified. And we know there is a stack, a stockpile, a slew of other protests we lodge in complaint against God’s calling to us.
What Do We Learn About God and About Ourselves When We Start Asking, “Who Am I?”
